My First Nations Person is CHIEF CROWFOOT. He was a noble, honourable, and peaceful man. His mom got divorced from his father and married again to and Blackfoot member. He was truly a blood Indian, but sadly after his fathers death he moved to a Blackfoot Lodge. His name was Crow Indian's Big Foot and then it was shortened to Crowfoot. He was a brave man that went to war 19 times and sadly was wounded 6 time. When he was a tennager he showed his great bravery by striking a tipi in a hostile Crow camp.
The most heroic thing he did was kill a grizzly bear with a lance (which is a hard thing to do). Shortly after, between the 1860's to the 1870's Crowfoot became a chief of a tribe or a band called Big Pipes band. Then after in the 1870's Chief Crowfoot became one of the three head chief in the tribes!!!! He was nice to the fur traders and was peaceful with the CREE.He adopted a cree member called POUNDMAKER and then Poundmaker became a leader of his own people.
As he was near death he quoted saying "What is life? I t is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the winter time. It is as the little shadow that runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset."
Treaty Number 7
Crowfoot was involved in the treaty #7. As I was reaching I found out the his name was Shot Close and he was born in the1830 near the Belly River. After his fathers death he was adoped by a Blackfoot member and was named Bear Ghost. Then he earned his prestigious name Isapo-muxika (Crow Indian’s Big Foot, or Crowfoot) by showing his act of bravery during an attack on acrow camp. Before the Treaty # 7 a few days before september 12, 1877, Blackfoots and Stonies started to arrive at the blackfoot crossing near the river bank.
